BANGKOK, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- Thai officials remain in contact with their Malaysian counterparts, as they intend to meet another 131 Muslim villagers in Malaysia in the middle of this month to convince them about their safety upon returning home, Thai Foreign Minister Kantathi Suphamongkhon said here Tuesday.

Malaysia and Thailand yesterday failed to break the deadlock over the fate of 131 displaced Thai Muslims, with Malaysia insisting Thai authorities must convince the group it is safe for them to return. The 131 men, women and children crossed the border into Malaysia in August, saying they feared for their lives in the region which is in the grip of a Muslim insurgency, triggering a diplomatic tussle over their fate.

Train derailed in insurgent attack in Narathiwat
A train running between Sungai Kolok and Sungai Padi districts in Narathiwat was derailed on Thursday after bombs that were planted on railway tracks exploded.
Police said a passenger of the trains was injured and rushed to a nearby hospital.
Initial investigation showed that suspected insurgents planted the explosives on the railway tracks and linked it to the detonator from nearby bushes.
