| Twin motorcycle bombs in Yala's Muang district killed two people yesterday and wounded 52 others, including three in a serious condition. |

The first bomb, hidden on a motorcycle with sidecar, went off near a Mazda outlet on Ruam Mitr Rd at 10.10am, wounding many people. The second bomb, hidden in a similar vehicle, detonated 15 minutes later about 150 metres from the first.
Police later detained two suspects, Arsorree Uma and Arifine Bahae, residents of tambon Budee, and were studying security footage to determine whether they were involved in the attacks.
The footage showed a man wearing a safety helmet riding the bomb-laden motorcycle to the site of the first attack. He crossed the street and the explosion followed.
Police ordnance experts said the first bomb was improvised from a cooking gas cylinder and the second was detonated by a mobile phone. The first bomb wrecked the auto showroom and five new vehicles, causing around Bt4 million in damage.
The pair killed were Phensiri Thong-aram and Phaderm Ruengphutthikul. There were no details of which explosions killed them.
The second bomb, set off near a photo shop, went off while rescue workers were evacuating injured from the scene of the first bomb and heavily damaged the premises. Provincial authorities have initially given Bt100,000 to the families of both dead victims and will provide treatment costs for all the wounded.
